Our Project

Community RO Water Purification Project

The Community RO Water Project is an initiative aimed at providing safe, clean, and affordable drinking water to the residents of [Village/Town/Community Name], where the existing water sources are either contaminated, saline, or unfit for direct consumption due to high Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), microbial impurities, or chemical pollutants such as fluoride, arsenic, or nitrates.

To address this issue, a centralized Reverse Osmosis (RO) water purification plant will be established within the community. This system will purify raw water sourced from an underground bore well or local supply through a multi-stage filtration process, making it safe for drinking and cooking purposes.

The project focuses on improving public health, reducing waterborne diseases, and ensuring sustainable access to clean water for all residents, especially vulnerable groups like children, the elderly, and low-income families.

This project provides a replicable and scalable model for community water access in rural and semi-urban areas. With a proper O&M model and minimal user contribution, the system is financially sustainable and socially impactful.

Expected Impact:

  • Access to 24/7 clean drinking water for [500 to 1000] Households.
  • Reduction in healthcare expenses and disease burden
  • Behavioural change in hygiene and sanitation practices
  • Empowerment of local governance through community management
  • Community pride and ownership
  • Community Water Committee for management and decision-making
  • Nominal User Fees for operations, repairs, and filter replacement
  • Regular Quality Checks in coordination with local health authorities
  • Capacity Building of local youth for plant operation and maintenance

Possible Operation Model

  • Residents collect purified water in cans or containers
  • Minimal user fee per litter or per can (e.g., ₹2–₹5 per 20L)
  • Monthly maintenance, filter replacement, and water quality testing by the operator
  • Community oversight to ensure sustainability
  • Monitoring: Joint oversight by village panchayat and service partner
  • Government-funded (under programs like Jal Jeevan Mission in India)
  • NGOs or CSR initiatives
  • Panchayat or Municipality funds
  • Community-funded (small user fees]
  • Safe Drinking Water: Reduces waterborne diseases.
  • Affordable: Cheaper than bottled water.
  • Scalable: Can be sized to serve hundreds or thousands of people.
  • Sustainable: When maintained well, it’s a long-term solution.

Key Considerations for Setup

  • Water source and quality
